Star Wars Trailer Breakdown?

Here we go...

If you are anything like us at the Spoken Jays Network, you have been waiting a very long time for this. And, as the old saying goes... we waited, and good things came! With that, I give you Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens official teaser trailer. Stay Tuned after for a full on breakdown...

Ok... ready to read now? I can wait while you watch it another 17 times if you like... Go ahead...

Ready?

Alright, let's talk... The narrator starts off saying "There's been an awakening... Have you felt it?" And finishes off with "The Dark Side... and the Light." That immediately poo-poos any nay-sayers who were all "The name doesn't mean anything". Another thing it does is validate that Andy Serkis probably has a pretty central role in the story. Maybe a villian?

Didn't catch that? Don't feel bad... a buddy (Jeff Garza) caught it before I did, and pointed it out. After listening another time, it couldn't be anyone else narrating.

Now... let's geek out over everything else, shall we?

Notably, subtle changes in the classic designs of the Star Wars world. Like the stormtrooper helmets (above)! There's just enough change from the original to make it totally new, yet completely recognizable. Let's just hope they still can't hit any targets, 'cause they kinda look a lot more badass now!

One big change I noticed was in the "Yet Unknown" Sith Lord's light saber in the trailer! Obviously, over the years there have been changes to the original 3 color scheme light-sabers of the 70's and 80's. Let's not forget Mace Windu and his purple balded saber.

Then, there's the slight shape changes over the years... from Darth Maul's double-saber, to the Inquisitor's saber that is a double and has an actual rapier hilt. The Sith's saber in this trailer is following suit...

There are no clean lines where the light blade extends. Which may lend to the story line thought that the Jedi's have died, as well as the Sith Lords - leaving a void in teachings where saber building/constructing is concerned? But the differences don't stop there, because this Sith's saber also has a lit hand guard... which I have to admit is COMPLETELY awesome.

Aside from that, we also got to see some kind of R4 or R5 unit with a rolling body, a speeder, some X-wings apparently heading into some sort of battle, some TIE fighters... and of course, The Millenium Falcon!!! Accompanied by John Williams' original iconic score.

So, we have just over a year to wait for JJ Abrams' and Disney's first go at Star Wars, in Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Let us know what you think by chiming in and using #OutSpokenJays and #StarWars:TheForceAwakens.
