Agent Carter Premiere

Let's be honest, there may be SPOILERS within...

Let's start by saying, Hayley Atwell gave a pretty cool performance in Captain America: The First Avenger as Peggy Carter, but having her own show has made her performance THAT much better. Let me put it this way... the premiere of Agent Carter beat out the ratings on almost every single episode of Agents of SHIELD season 2. Yeah.

I know JB will lose it by me saying this- but where Marvel TV (in my opinion) may have missed the mark of "amazing" with Agents of SHIELD, they have nailed it with Agent Carter. It has this old-time, Noir-esque feel that is pretty accurately portrayed by everyone involved; cameos by Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) and by way of newspapers and flashback, the First Avenger himself; and let's not foget Agent Carter's partner in the 2 hour premiere... Jarvis.

The premiere takes us to a time after the war that caused the loss of Steve Rogers. Peggy Carter is an agent of SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve) in the 1940's. Keeping with the culture of that time, she is seen as little more than a secretary whose time would be better spent filing and fetching coffee for the other male agents. Obviously, her office demeanor means absolutely nothing... Agent Mey's bad-assness pales in comparison. Throughout the 2-hour/ 2 episode premiere, she is a shining beacon for lady ass-kicking power. And she is completely hot doing it.

At a glance, the premise of the premiere sets up (what I see) being a season-long adventure. Howard Stark is being suspected of selling his more "nasty" inventions to the enemy. He skips out on final hearings and is a fugitive. Of course, he seeks out the assistance of his pal from the war, Agent Peggy Carter. To keep tabs, and help her out in any way he can, Howard sends along his trusty butler - Jarvis. You may recognize that name from Iron Man and all of Tony's appearances in the new Marvel Cinematic U... that character sticks around.

I don't want to give away too much, if you haven't seen the premiere...plus 2 hours is a lot to re-cap. I can say this for the coming season: It will be amazing, I will be watching every episode, and Stan Lee is slotted to make an appearance in episode four. Did that get your attention?

Agent Carter airs Tuesdays at 8 pm...check your local listings, and stayed tuned to Spoken Jays for updates, recaps and more... #OutSpokenJays
