Happenings... This week's junk

The biggest thing that has happened this week (and has been happening for the last couple weeks) is all this leaked footage from the set of Suicide Squad. Joker and Harley arguing; Harley and Deadshot talking; Bat-mobile chasing the “Joker” mobile-Lamborghini… blah, blah, blah. It’s too much!

I was mildly excited when they announced that this movie was being made. I was even kind-of excited when casting was released. I started getting a little hyped when Jared Leto was announced for Joker… a little. BUT, then they released that cast photo… immediate pants deflation. Joker photos were released, and I was skeptical of the tattoos and demeanor at first – but then I thought, “Duh… Joker… Insane. Fitting”. So, I was partially back on board – but still thinking some of those costumes are positively dreadful.

Now we have new videos leaking every single day, multiple times a day from the set and all I can think is, “Please… f’ing stop”. The only thing these videos are doing is making me want to see it less and less. Whatever happened to surprise at the theater? Whatever happened to intrigue at what might happen?

I mean, at first the rumors were that Joker would make a cameo in Squad… that’s a whole lotta filming for a cameo. There wasn’t even rumor that Batman would make a cameo… the cat’s out of the bag on that one now. The element of surprise is gone… intrigue is no longer there… So – Cut it out already! You’re just making it worse!

***steps down from soap box***

In other news, it was announced that a few new reboots are in the works (and you know how much we love that idea…). First in line is the upcoming reboot of the Speed Racer animated

series is in the works; however no details on the format or release date were shared by the production company at the helm, Tatsunoko Production. Anyone else remember that horrible movie a few years back with Emile Hirsch? Yeah… me neither.

Another reboot in the works, by producer John Davis (of Davis Production), is the previously flopped adaptation of Alan Moore’s League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The comics were cool… the move did not meet expectations. Davis hopes to redeem the losses of 2003’s Sean Connery starring mockery. One would only hope that Alan Moore might drop his lunacy long enough to act as some sort of collaborative party in the film.

Through the great works of Annie Leibovitz, and her amazing photo shoot on the set of Star

Wars VII: The Force Awakens – we were given some pretty cool shots of a lot of the cast including the unmasked, new-age lightsaber wielding Adam Driver. There was one photo withheld and released this week showing Andy Serkis in his mo-cap suit, all menacing and badass… Oh, did I mention his character’s name was revealed too? Say hello to Supreme Leader Snoke… and you’re welcome.

On to toys… and since we’re talking about Star Wars – Hot Toys has revealed its Luke Skywalker Episode IV figure. The figure features 1/6 scale, major articulation, a handful of extra hands, blaster helmet and practice droid along with other goodies, and let’s not forget – an LED light up, blue lightsaber. It really looks like 1977 Mark Hamill… I want one.

Ready for rapid fire? Here’s a bunch of stuff that has happened, but doesn’t really warrant a paragraph of its own:

San Andreas, the Rock starring earthquake action flick, (surprise, surprise) is set to make bundles of money upon opening this weekend. Beebop and Rocksteady set photos were released from the set of TMNT 2, confirming that WWE superstar Sheamus is playing Rocksteady in the film. Jean-Claude Van Damme can apparently still do extra creepy splits, and a movie called Kung Fury (featuring a David Hasselhoff theme song, 80’s homage galore and robot dinosaurs) was released on youtube yesterday.

Finally- Ryan Reynolds reported that Deadpool has wrapped filming. Though, I do not usually like gleaming anything from films wrapping, I do have to point out that it gives post-production plenty of time to have some insanely awesome footage ready SDCC… just sayin’.

That's all from this week... at least, I think. Sound off with #OutSpokenJays if you have anythign to add. As always, make sure you check us out on all the media outlets (FB, Twitter, IG) as well as SpokenJays.com for all of the goodies we have to offer.

Thanks for joining our little Universe... see you next time.
