Time to Rock... Fraggle Style

Most of the great Henson creations have had their own movies… Kermit and the Muppets have had virtually dozens of movies; Big Bird and the Sesame Street crew have had a few; Yoda has been on the big screen a few times. Let’s not forget Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal (I have to mention those two)! But one of Henson’s most memorable creations has never had its own silver screen, big budget, notable cast movie – I am of course talking about the 80’s classic “Fraggle Rock”. (Here’s a refresher in case you don’t quite remember the entire theme song like I do!)

After a million rumors and years of nothing, the Saturday morning favorite is finally getting itself a live-action movie. That’s right… we could see Boober, Wembley, Gobo, the Doozers (ya’ know – those weird little green guys that wore hard hats and built stuff that the Fraggles usually ended up eating), the abominable Gorgs, maybe the Tarpaulin?, and we could even see some iteration of Doc* and Sprocket!
On top of that great news, the project has a pretty big name attached to it now: actor & producer, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who told Variety:

"... Jim Henson's characters make you laugh and sing... I've never stopped loving his work, even as a young frisky man and on to adulthood. Collaborating with Lisa Henson makes me confident we can do something that Jim would have loved."
There are currently no details on when filming will begin, who’s writing the script or which direction this new Fraggle story will take. Rest assured, though – with Lisa Henson and the Henson Co., JG-L, and New

Regency at the helm we’re sure to get our money’s worth when Fraggle Rock hits theaters!
#OutSpokenJays – Which Fraggle story would you like to see reinvented? Which characters would have to be included for you to be on-board?
*Doc, by the way, was played by Gerald Parkes… you may remember him as the lovable bartender with Tourette’s from Boondock Saints. Sadly, he passed away 3 days after his 90th birthday last year.
