Walking Dead Season 5 Mid-Season Finale Shocker

SPOILER ALERT! If you have not seen the Season 5 mid-season finale of Walking Dead - READ NO FURTHER! And also, why haven't you seen it yet?

This season of AMC's The Walking Dead has been, to say the least, packed full off goodies. In a quick recap of the season thus far - We found that the Terminus population of the living ALSO ate people, we've seen Terminus fall at the hands of Carol, we met a very scared preacher with a very shady past, Terminus people ate Bob's walker infected foot (but the infection scare is a completely different angle), Rick followed through with a promise of retribution, Bob died (so sad), the team split up, we see a little of Abraham's past and find out why he is so "off", Eugene was full of shit, and the BIG shocker (AGAIN- do not read if you have not watched yet) Beth and Carol get traded for some "cops" in the hospital - and while stabbing Dawn in the neck with a pair of scissors, Beth was killed off with a single shot to the head. #RIPBeth

I have to admit, while I was watching the episode I felt like something was going to happen to one of the core group. There were a couple of moments where I was clinching up a little- but as the episode pushed forward, you start to realize that whatever happens is going down in the hospital, and would probably involve either Carol or Beth...

Beth and Dawn were building up to a confrontation throughout the episode. Dawn kept trying to justify how she ran the hospital, and Beth kept trying to show her how evil she was actually being. With the impending trade-off on the horizon, we see Beth slide a pair of scissors into her cast. Then she gets all close with Dawn, and with a flick of the wrist - Dawn gets a pair of scissors to the neck and lets loose a round to Beth's head :( Unfortunately for Dawn, Daryl had his gun ready and put a bullet in her head too... only, it was too late for poor Beth.

This is how it went down in my house: "Oh, here goes the trade-off. What is Beth doing? Oh SWEET! She just stabbed Da - OH SHIT!!!!" I'll own up to it: I got teary eyed along with Rick, Daryl, and the rest of the crew. I also unintentionally woke up my wife. It's her fault for sleeping during The Walking Dead, anyway.

Now, there are fans out there who say things like "Why do you keep killing off everyone?" I have only this to say... would it really be interesting if everyone survived? And that's paraphrasing Robert Kirkman (the man behind it all) from the most recent epsiode of Talking Dead, which aired directly after the finale... you can view that interview in its entirety here, if you so wish, to get the full scoop from the writer himself.

He's got a point... if people kept on surviving, it would get really boring. Plus - what would us bloggers have to talk about, and fans to complain about? Seriously?
