It’s coming upon the 11th hour with Christmas less than a week away. If you’re anything like me, you still have a little holiday shopping to do. So I am here to help you find something special for your resident geeks. Below are some helpful ideas of things that you will most likely be able to find around town, so you can avoid having to pay obscene prices for overnight shipping!

First, you have to ask yourself, “What does your geek like?” This, more often than not, can be broken down into a handful of main categories: Dead Head (Walking Dead), Star Warrior (Star Wars), True Believer (Marvel Comics), Batfan (Batman and Friends), or Pop Culture Junkie (This is the catch-all for everything else). Keep in mind that there are more categories than these listed, but we have 6 days left to shop, so we’re not getting things flown in from Japan.

Governor's Room

For the Walking Dead fan, McFarlane Toys has just started releasing Walking Dead Building Sets. These are LEGO-esque miniature sets that you build yourself and promise endless hours of customizing for your favorite nerd. The best part about these is that Toys R’ Us received a deal with Todd McFarlane to stock these prior to everyone else, so they can be found at any TRU. The sets include a Prison Tower & Gate (includes Glen in Riot Gear and a walker), The Governor’s Room (includes The Governor, Walker Penny, and wall of heads in aquariums), Daryl Dixon with Chopper (includes walker and Interstate 85 diorama), they also have available single figures which include a variety of Walkers and your favorite cast members from the show. In addition to these, Barnes and Noble carries Funko POP! Vinyl Figures for the Walking Dead. They have adorable little bodies and great big heads. The figures are so cute, you won’t mind them attempting to bite off your face!

Star Wars fans are probably the easiest to shop for. There has been a steady stream of merchandise from this movie since the initial release for Episode IV:

A NewHope in 1977. Currently, the absolute coolest things that they are putting out that are readily available for purchase is The Black Series. Sounds fancy, huh? They are six-inch-tall, super articulated, super detailed, and are sure to please any Star Wars fan. Currently, Target has an exclusive Imperial Shadow Squadron 2-Pack that includes all-black versions of a Scout Trooper with Speeder Bike and a Sand Trooper. Also, Walgreens has an exclusive Prototype Boba Fett figure that sports the original design by Ralph McQuarrie. These all look incredible and will be sure to impress any Star Wars fan in your house.

Next up we have the fans of all things Marvel. The obvious choice here is The Guardians of the Galaxy Blu-ray available at most retail stores. The disk includes the

movie in Hi Definition and 3D and also has an extended exclusive look at the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron. If you wish to go the extra mile for your beloved bespectacled fanboy (or girl), Funko has just released their Dancing Baby Groot Vinyl Figure the best place to get your hands on this is going to be Toys R’ Us.

Jingle bells, Batman sells

Merchandise like hotcakes!

Hurry up, it’s flying off the shelves this holiday! Hey!

Sorry…. Got carried away for a second….

For fans of the 1989 Batman film, there’s the 25th Anniversary Blu-Ray exclusive from Toys R Us that includes a figure of the 1989 Batman from NECA. It’s a gorgeous depiction of Michael Keaton in the Batman suit and will be treasured by all who behold it. (Totally not joking) If your definitive Batman is from Batman: The Animated Series, then head to your local comic shop and ask for the DC Collectables Batman figures. They are 7 inches tall and the first series includes Batman, Catwoman, Mr. Freeze, and Two Face. These figures are all sculpted after the original designs of Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski from the show and are sure to stay a center piece of your Batfan’s bookshelf or desk at work. They can be found at your local Comicbook Shop, so stop in at the appropriately title Gotham City Limits before they sell out!

Whether your geek quotes Ghostbusters, wants to Catch Em All, owns a Sonic

Screwdriver, hunts horcruxes, wishes to be beamed up, wants to play a game in Westeros, or just loves to snuggle up with a good book; my first choice for a place to find all of that and more is Barnes and Noble. For a bookstore, they are far more than just a place to find books. It’s a place to find wonder and amazing things that you never knew existed. If nothing that you’ve seen on this list fits, B&N is your next stop. They have a little bit of everything and you are sure to find what you need for the lover of all things geeky in your life.

This concludes the Spoken Jays’ guide to last minute geeky Christmas gifts. Let us know what you think in the comments or, as always, #OutSpokenJays
